Plot Summary
In a fictional time period that is a mixture between the industrial revolution of America and America's Colonial period, an anthropormorphic woman-spider named Nansi has settled in a foggy industrial city. To make up for her violent youth, she spends her nighttimes as a giant spider and helping those who need it. One day she finds a tiger seeming to attack a child who was just born, sitting in the forrest and vulnerable. With the mother dead, Nansi kills the tiger and takes the baby to a woman named Mercy who will take care of it. The next day, Nansi discovers her friend and healder to be dead, a woman with a family named Jingjing. She realizes that Jingjing was that tiger, and she was the one who killed her. Guilty and confused, Nansi goes about her business until she realizes that someone attempted to poison her. She suspects that it was not a human who did this, so she goes into the forrest to ask the werewolves for help. The werewolves inform her of a group called the Tong who were out to kill Nansi and the baby she had saved. The wolves and Nansi go to stop this from happening, but it is too late; Mercy's home was burned down, and the entire family was dead. Another mythical being called the Magog helps Nansi rid their city of the Tong. He also helps Nansi rid herself of her spider curse, so she can be fully a woman. She and Magog become lovers, and she lives her immortal life as a young person again.
