Jaiyesimi wants to leave the Lush and run away to the City with her boyfriend. Her grandmother, Big Mama Green, is deadset against this venture. Green does not believe that Jaiyesimi is ready or should go because of the Lush and her lack of a connection to the Lush. The Lush is a place, but also a spiritual presence of some sort. There is a lushcode to understand it and use its power as well. Jaiyesimi states that she wants to become a "sysop" like Big Mama Green. The power is great as it allows Jaiyesimi to transform into a bear and for Big Mama Green to grow vines and other greens on command. Green does not want her granddaughter to go out because she might end up like Sly Sincere, a man who left for the City as a strong, muscular man, but came back skinny and looking sickly because he left the Lush. Sly Sincere or Mossberg Slim, is now somewhat lost, and Jaiyesimi as well as her boyfriend are going to get him back. Unfortunately they are not successful in their mission and are killed by Mossberg Slim.
