While she sits through English class, Viv hears one of her classmates maliciously whisper that she is going straight to hell. Her bully is Jessica, a white Christian girl who bullies Viv because she is Jewish. Although Viv brushes off the comment, her classmate Nikhil pulls her aside after class and reveals that Jessica has bullied him as well. Nikhil is Indian and one of the only non-white students in their school. While they cynically joke about the way they have both been stereotyped, Viv and Nikhil start to bond over their mutual desire to take revenge. After Viv secretly captures a picture of Jessica cheating on her boyfriend, she and Nik decide to crash her birthday party and reveal the picture there. While they make plans for their revenge, Viv and Nik get to know each other and share information about their culture. Viv catches feelings for Nik, and they dance together at Jessica’s birthday party. Viv backs out of their revenge plan at the last minute and explains that they should appreciate how Jessica unintentionally brought them together — they should choose love over hate. Nik happily agrees, but Jessica catches them on their way out of the party. Viv shows her the picture and explains that they were going to seek revenge but finally chose to not. They leave the party together and share a kiss. They feel like the true winners.
