Paige, Yumi's white coworker at Simplexity, frequently asks Yumi to do her tedious office work, like mailing packages and billing expenses. Yumi gets fed up and tries to out her for booking free company hair cuts under other coworker Martha's name. Yumi realizes that unlike Paige and the other white and Asian coworkers, Martha and the other two Black coworkers cannot use the hair services because of their type of hair. After approaching Martha about this issue, Yumi is told not to bring it up with HR since Martha is just here to learn work skills and focus on her career, not involve herself with teaching white people about implicit bias. Yumi already has brought it up with management but doesn't tell them that because she is embarrassed. Martha encourages Yumi to finally stand up for herself when Paige asks Yumi to prepare pamphlets for a meeting. However, after Yumi says no, Paige goes to Martha, who agrees to do the task.
