Moggadeet, ancient and in love, relays their story of the approaching cold. This cold ruins their kind, and even drove Moggadeet’s mother into madness. She consumed her own child, Moggadeet’s brother.
Moggadeet's kind are ancient, bestial creatures with many arms and glistening fur, but not one of them can overcome the cold. Even the Old One, a being even more primordial and huge, begins to decay as the cold envelopes its body. The Old One tells Moggadeet that the cold cannot be stopped, that their demise from this chilling is inevitable. But Moggadeet, determined and infatuated with Lillyloo, a bright star-child, refuses to accept this.
As winter approaches, Moggadeet acquires every resource possible to retain the warmth to survive in a cave with Lillyloo. But Lillyloo was not the one who needed protecting; Lillyloo devours Moggadeet as their children grow within Lillyloo, and the cold approaches.
