A policeman and his partner Frank arrive at the gruesome scene of a motorcycle crash. The victims are a young girl and boy, and Frank becomes sick after he pulls a body from the bushes. The policeman is bothered that his partner continues to let himself get emotional while on the job. He walks away from Frank to check in with the ambulance. The driver is an old man, and his helper is a young man who the policeman believes looks too borderline high and too excited to be around death. They wrap up at the scene, and the policeman offers to take Frank home early. They stop at an all-night restaurant for coffee, and Frank starts describing the horror of the bodies he pulled from the bushes and thinks back to his own children. The policeman despises Frank for being so sentimental. After leaving the restaurant, Frank admits that he felt a pulse from the boy’s mangled body and asks the policeman to make a choice for him. The policeman leaves with Frank’s gun so he cannot shoot himself and is glad to be out of his company.
