Through a series of emails, a father who went missing twenty years before when his plane was swallowed by a wormhole reconnects with Matthew, his now-adult son. Their emails start out frosty, as Matthew was already struggling with abandonment issues around his workaholic father before the disappearance. But in sharing with his father all the ways in which the world has changed to prioritise life over work, Matthew begins to find common ground with his father in ways he never did before. By the time they're done, the father who once chose work over family - and had been planning to get on a plane to Japan - decides to stay and meet his grandchildren.
