In the present, a young man asks a woman he fancies to accompany him to some ruins, which they postulate are of a priory that housed the most depraved centuries ago. The young man and woman begin a romance in the ruins and encounter a haunting ghost, a woman who turns into a many-legged creature when she ingests a locked box. This creature swallows the young man and spits him back out again, changed. The young woman he came with leaves the ruins with little recollection of what actually happened.
