Cody Stryker is a young man living in Spirit, Texas, a small town with only a few thousand residents. After Cody buys the abandoned movie theater in town, Ginny Augustine, a high school girl, convinces him to hire her as a part-time employee. In 1959, the movie theater gained a dark reputation when a young girl, Sonia Mitchell, was found dead in a closet and another girl, Katherine Vogel, went missing. Since he bought the place, Cody has seen the letter “S” traced in the dust and heard a feminine voice trying to speak with him. Regardless of the dark history, Cody has personal reasons for buying the theater. After the death of his mother, he was taken under the care of his abusive uncle. To protect himself, he ordered a “power elixir” from the internet and was shocked to receive it via overnight shipping. The strange elixir turned him into a vampire and left a website link for ordering blood and online dating with other vampires. Now that he will live forever, he opens the theater as a means of supporting himself for as long as possible. On the opening night of the movie theater, Ginny is working the register when Ben Mueller, a high school boy, starts picking a fight with her. Cody forces him to leave, and Ginny explains that he has held a grudge ever since she refused to sleep with him after prom. One day, Cody hears a voice shouting “murderer”, and he believes that Sonia must know that he killed his uncle after becoming a vampire. He tries talking to her when Ben appears in the theater with an axe and the decapitated heads of Mr. and Mrs. Augustine. Cody starts reciting lines from the Bible to exorcise Sonia, only to find that Ginny is affected by the lines, revealing that she is a vampire like him. Ginny says that she plotted to meet him after seeing his profile on the vampire dating website. She also admits that she is Katherine Vogel: the one who murdered Sonia. Cody decapitates and kills Ginny/Katherine. To his surprise, he sees the ghost form of Sonia in the theater a few weeks later. She asks if he believes in love at first sight, and he realizes that they are the perfect match.
