Alberto is called to work at Don Antonio's house, where he finds Lola, his friend from high school, with whom he is deeply in love. Lola, however, is married to the Don and no longer sees Alberto as a friend — instead, Lola is now Alberto's boss. After Alberto's parents had died when he was 17, Lola and him would discuss plays and books at the restaurant where he worked. They grew apart over the years, but were reunited when Don Antonio hired Alberto to do housework for him. The Don is not happy to learn that Lola and Alberto know each other, and wants Alberto to learn his place. Then, Lola tells Alberto that the Don is leaving her. Alberto does not know how to answer, and she is annoyed by his inaction. She goes to the beach and returns naked, startling Alberto and starts to kiss him. He is elated— until Lola says that the Don would be so jealous. Alberto realizes that Lola is using him and stops kissing her. Lola is upset that she's been rejected. She decides to leave. As she's driving away, Alberto realizes that he needs to take a chance for love and chases after her. However, she has already left and it's too late.
