The woman gets TikToks from her sister. At first, she doesn’t think much of it, but she has a dream shortly after of cutting a cake, while a plaster covers her ring finger. The next day, she gets sent a TikTok where a chef is eating chips with plaster on his ring finger. She wonders what it’s about, but her sister doesn’t tell her much. A few days later, she sees her sister’s TikTok of her eating all sorts of food, but her sister still doesn’t tell her about what’s going on. Days go on, and she keeps seeing videos of people eating while having plaster on their fingers. Eventually, news breaks out. If you cut your ring finger and put plaster on it, a company will send you a meal you like.

With her friends, the woman wonders how messed up the whole thing is, thinking it’s weird, but her friends don’t think so. They say she’ll eventually cave to the pressure and do it herself. They tell her to do it purely to assuage her curiosities. Later, the woman thinks about all that’s gone wrong in her life recently and how it may be related to her fixation on the plaster trend. She only knows one other person, a woman she used to work with, who hasn’t done it yet. She calls her godmother, who tells her that no good deed goes unpunished, specifically that the universe is testing her to see how stubborn she really is.

Things only get worse for the woman. Someone accuses her of sexual harassment. She cries at her ex’s wedding and is called crazy. Her aunt is sent to an ICU. She calls her godmother again and says she’ll cut her finger if it means all of this will stop. However, she fakes it on Instagram by using her period blood, and everyone calls her out on it. One person tells her she will pay. Her godmother tells her that she can’t outsmart others. In resignation, she cuts her ring finger on video. Immediately, someone at her door informs her that they know. By night, she gets a bag of food, with her perfect feast. She takes pictures of it and puts plaster on her finger.

Later, the woman goes back to the comment telling her that she’ll pay soon. She comments back that she’s awaiting her punishment. Later, she sees her old coworker pricking her ring finger on video. Her old coworker then texts her, asking how long it’ll take her food to come. A friend tells the woman that she’s fucked up, after which she sends her the old coworker’s video, in which her ring finger is bleeding profusely, and everyone is discussing how long it’ll take for the food to come. All over the internet, there are videos of people mutilating themselves, and an article says the food is no longer getting delivered. She clicks on one video, of a fourteen year old with a power tool. The woman then texts her godmother, fearing she has wronged the universe. On the fourteen year old’s video, she sees a comment saying punishment has come.
