In a near future world, a robot takes care of its owner, a cynical and jaded war veteran, completing the tasks the veteran cannot fulfill. The robot goes out and buys the groceries before the veteran's nephews visit. The veteran scares off the nephews with a sordid war tale. Later that evening, the veteran is distraught because his country is withdrawing from Nicaragua, where he had fought. He withdraws to his room. The robot later checks in on him when it detects abnormalities and encounters a burglar who disables most of its alarm systems. In trying to protect the veteran's health, the robot devises a plan to electrocute the burglar, and is successful. Even though technically it is not supposed to kill humans, protecting the veteran took priority. In the aftermath, the robot's relationship with the veteran improves.
