Dibbs, a forty-four-year-old deputy sheriff, receives a panicked phone call from a young woman named Ferriday at 2:00AM one Tuesday morning. Ferriday tells Dibbs that she was at a local drug dealer's and ended up shooting two men there to avoid being raped.
Dibbs, who is both sexually attracted to Ferriday and has a soft spot for her because of her mother, who used to be his lover before she died, agrees to help. When he gets to the drug dealer's house, he does not phone in the dead body he finds. Instead, he keeps looking for the second drug dealer and kills him too, even though the man has a completely different story from Ferriday's, thereby destroying any evidence. Ferriday runs away a free woman.
