A giant, acid-breathing, reptilian creature known as The Beast comes out of the ocean and wreaks havoc on Seattle. After The Beast is nuked to death, scientists dissect it. Fifteen years pass, Seattle soon becomes inhabitable once more, and a marine biologist visits the site from which The Beast first emerged to try to better understand the reason for The Beast’s attack—the biologist believes that The Beast only attacked the city because it was trying to protect the eggs it laid on land. The marine biologist enters a cave and retrieves two of The Beast’s eggs. The marine biologist brings the eggs to a makeshift nest in a rental home and takes measurements and administers tests. One of the egg hatches; the biologist names the baby beast Geode.
A month passes and Geode grows up to the biologist’s chest level. The biologist continues administering tests. The two form a strong, trusting, and intimate relationship. But the biologist begins to worry that soon enough the authorities will know of Geode’s existence. A man stops by the biologist’s house and is killed by a startled ten-foot tall Geode, who spits acid at him and consumes his flesh. The biologist decides it is time to release Geode into the ocean. While driving Geode to the beach, the authorities pursue them. Soldiers shoot at them. The biologist twists their ankle. Geode snatches the biologist as they enter the water. The biologist is content to drown, sacrificing their life for Geode and The Beast.
