Mrs. O’Brien opens her front door to see Mr. Ramirez, her best tenant, in between two police officers. Mr. Ramirez gazes longingly into Mrs. O’Brien’s house, where her children eat a hearty dinner. Mr. Ramirez quietly explains that he must go back to Mexico as his temporary visa has expired. With sympathy, Mrs. O’Brien says that she is sorry and that she wishes there was something she could do. Mr. Ramirez suddenly begins to cry as he says his goodbyes and turns away. He knows that he will never see Mrs. O’Brien again.
