This story functions less as the telling of a central conflict and its resolutions and more as a series of ever more confusing reflections on time and discontentment as experienced through a spin-off of Lewis Carroll's Mad Hatter character.

The Mad Hatter-esque character is stuck in a world in which time has broken down, and it is always tea time for him. The story shows slices of his day-to-day life—making ending red and black hats for the Queen of Hearts, nonsense poetry, and his relationships with other characters—without explicitly developing these through line connections.

This story is mostly a mediation on time. It begins by referencing the notion of a beginning and ends by referencing the notion of an end.
