Plot Summary
Granita picks up a hitchhiker on her drive to the water museum that she owns. The museum is an elaborate 3 mile stretch of various water based exhibits. The hitchhiker says he’s on the way to the water museum for a job interview. Granita knows he’s out to kill her because she’s not holding any job interviews. She plays along with his game because he doesn’t seem to know who she is. They get to the water museum and she shows him around. The man seems to be in awe. The two finally introduce themselves and the man finds out her name is the name of the woman he’s supposed to kill. The hitchhiker’s name is Jasper. Jasper waits a short while as they continue the tour of the museum before brandishing his gun. He aims it at Granita and she tips the platform they’re standing on so that they both land in muddy, murky water. As Jasper struggles to breathe, she ties him up. She drags him through the sewage part of the “tour” until he can’t take it anymore. Jasper agrees to cooperate and Granita promises him not to hold a grudge. She brings him to clean up and change his clothes. She locks him in a room saying that she’ll allow him to be alone for about a week to decide what he wants to be when he comes out. She’s leaving him with food and water. Before she leaves she kisses him on the forehead and he smiles. At the end it’s revealed that Granita won the Powerball and built this water museum and convinced a congressman to give her the sole charter of selling the Great Lake’s water to irrigate western states. Cowboys have been sending out assassins after Granita because they want her to sell them a pipeline.
