Plot Summary
The man starts dating a lady named Marissa. Marissa is a community college graduate and regular churchgoer. The man gets a job at an elevator that deals with anhydrous gas. He eventually starts using that anhydrous gas to make meth that he sells with his friend Rob. He sells his meth for a while, and is doing fine. He is wary of Rob, who is a dirty and uncivilized person. Much to his dismay, Rob wants his friend to start carrying a gun because "all drug dealers should have guns". He resolves to quit selling drugs once he saves thirty-five thousand dollars. Marissa finds out that her boyfriend sells drugs and her mother uses drugs at the same time, as he delivers her package while Marissa visits her. Marissa is upset, and after her boyfriend leaves, she calls Rob to tell him to deliver a message to him for her. In an attempt to get back in her good graces, the boyfriend kidnaps Marissa's mother and locks her in a room tied up. He acts like he is someone else, and tells her she needs to settle her debts. He leaves her there and goes to Marissa to ask for her back. She rejects him, and he tells her she has to go help her mother. He drives and she follows in her car, assisting Marissa to get her mother back. Afterwards though, she still doesn't want anything to do with him. The now ex-boyfriend decides to use the money he saved from dealing to pay for treatment to get Marissa's mother clean. However, when he goes to where he stowed his money under the porch, it's gone. He immediately knows that Rob stole it. He goes to Rob's house, pumps anhydrous gas into his window, poisoning him, and takes both he and Rob's money. He uses the money for Marissa's mom, but they both move away to a nice neighborhood in Kansas City. This leaves the man behind to wonder if he helped her get clean at all.
