As they discuss what it will be like to separate, a husband and wife keep using the bathroom because they are so stressed. They end up drinking heavily in an effort to calm their nerves. As they begin to leave the apartment, the woman tells the man about how she met her new lover, but he is not paying attention because he has lost one of his expensive gloves and must go back to search for it. He does not find the glove, but he tells his wife that he purchased very expensive shoes for his girlfriend because he loves her so much. The two part ways and the woman is so disoriented that she walks into people in the train station. She returns home and tries to explain the complexities of the divorce to her father, but he does not understand. She eats an orange without recalling when she decided to do so.
