Plot Summary
Kim is sixteen years-old and raising a daughter, and despite doing the best she can do, she gets nothing but resentment from her mother, She needs to see Malik, her child's father, but her mother refuses to provide any assistance in childcare. One of Kim's sisters is similarly unhelpful, but she finds grace in Rashida, who agrees to watch the baby while Kim retrieves money from Malik. Arriving at his crowded house, Kim balances being sweet with her lover while also trying to ask for money. Malik gets frustrated and lashes out at her. If he had money, he'd give it to her, but clearly, he is living paycheck to paycheck. Malik tells her not to worry about it for now, and he kisses her until she is fully distracted. Returning home, Kim holds her baby close. She feels relieved that she isn't entirely alone in the world.
