In futuristic Toronto, citizens view the world through artificial, customizable "skins," whereas radical privacy devotees live in a segregated city, hide behind veils, and use skins that erase normal people from view.
Kass, a burlesque performer, falls in love with an unidentifiable veiled privacy devotee who cannot see her. Hoping to get her crush's attention, she puts on a street performance cosplaying as a popular character, but is arrested for intellectual property infringement.
In jail, she bonds with her cynical, centenarian cellmate Janet, who doesn't believe in Kass's visions of love. Faced with a potentially long prison sentence, thanks to the entertainment companies she's angered, Kass is heartbroken until her defense lawyer arrives—and turns out to be the woman she's in love with.
