A family of four, with another child on the way, seek to escape the dangers and stress of New York City by moving to a more secluded upstate New York. The wife, Catherine, hopes that this move will finally encourage her husband to work from home and spend more time with their family. However, as the story progresses, the husband, Henry, continues to take more and more trips to the city for work, leaving Catherine alone to raise the kids and decorate the new house. Eventually, both Catherine and the children begin to feel uncomfortable in their new home. Hordes of rabbits inhabit the front lawn and electronics and other items begin to feel "haunted." In the end, Catherine asks that Henry simply make it home in time to participate in a party she has thrown for the neighbors. Late again, Henry misses the party and starts to feel that himself and his bike are haunted. He shrinks down and rides a rabbit home, but never makes it inside. He has become one of the many people trapped on the backs of the rabbits which watch the house from the front lawn.
