Dara Martin is an undercover agent with Homeland Intelligence, working in Guangzhou, China. Despite being there for five months already, setting up her cover working at Gua Beauty Products, Dara has yet to find anything. One day, a new distributor, Githinji Diallo, walks into the store. She tells him she needs until the end of the week to complete his order, and after her leaves, she sets up a rendezvous with her handler. From her handler, Rona Huang, Dara finds out Githinji is another undercover agent. Dara is rattled. When Rona presses Dara to get new information, Dara doubles over in pain. The new technology causes her excruciating pain. Dara toughs it out and meets with Yuan Chin, the minister of commerce's brother to get more information on the upcoming trade talks. The minister of commerce, Enlai, is the true target. Back at her place, Dara is in agony. As she uses her mind to change her alleles, what controls her physical appearance, the pain only worsens. She makes her hair straight, but when she tries to lighten her skin she passes out. When she wakes up, she has white skin and adopts a new undercover identity: Chyou Sòng. Yuan Chin picks up Chyou in a limousine. The driver steps out to open the door, and much to Chyou's surprise it's Githinji. In the limo, Chyou sees Dara's face staring back at her. She blinks hard and she is Chyou again; her mind is playing tricks on her. Chyou focuses on playing tricks on Yuan. She asks to go back to his apartment, rather than dinner, and when they arrive she tranquilizes him. Before he falls asleep, Chyou gets Enlai's location. One again, Chyou sees Dara in the mirror and takes deep breaths to stave off the panic. Chyou transforms into Yuan, doubling over and screaming in pain. Once Yuan, he cuts his hair and walks outside to meet Githinji. The new Yuan explains it's really Dara, and gives Githinji the retrieved address. By the time the new Yuan arrives at the address, he's shaking and visibly sweating. Yuan finds Enlai inside. When they are alone, Yuan tranquilizes Enlai and steals his trade plans from his device. Githinji joins them just in time and then snaps Enlai's neck. When Githinji moves towards Yuan, Yuan runs. He jumps out the back door and dives into a nearby river. In the river, the faces of Dara, Chyou, and Yuan cause panic and Yuan drowns. A few days later, Rona gets a call about a dead American who turned up on the riverbank.
