Sweeney is a barber who slits his victims’ throats while they’re in his chair and sends their bodies downstairs for his neighbor Mrs. Lovett to mix into her pies. While he cleans up from the aftermath of his recent murder, taking care to remove hair and teeth while slicing the meat, he contemplates how underneath the skin all men are the same, just as flattery covers truth.
