Plot Summary
One day, an old man named Gasper is rescued from thugs by a young man named Billy. Billy takes Gasper home, and Gasper becomes his roommate. Together they talk about their backstories: Gasper lost his wife a while ago, and Billy recently left the military. As they continue to talk, Gasper makes cryptic statements, stating that it's eleven o'clock, or that litter is the living room despite it being outside. As they get closer, Billy tells Gasper of his trauma on the battlefield, but more importantly, an unknown soldier saving his life. Unfortunately, Billy never was able to thank the soldier and has lived with the guilt ever since. Eventually, Gasper tells Billy his secret as well: he is a protector of the world. His pocket watch shows the "lost hour" from when the world switched to the Gregorian calendar. When the calendar changed, time was lost including one hour of the day, therefore the clock always remains at 11:00 If the clock were to ever strike twelve, the world would end. Gasper chooses Billy to take on the task of the protector, but before that, Gasper bestows upon Billy a gift - he allows the pocket watch to go one minute past 11, activating a magic that allows him to bring back the unknown soldier. Billy talks to the soldier for one minute. Afterwards, Gasper passes away.
