A young man leaves Ann Arbor heading to Buffalo, but not before he visits a bookstore and the liquor store. He drives to Cleveland where he visits another bookstore and meets a carpenter who invites him to get a drink. The two go to a nearby bar where they meet two women who introduce themselves as Daisy Buchanan and Jordan Baker. The carpenter introduces himself as Sancho Panza, and finally the young man introduces himself as the Invisible Man. The Invisible Man thinks of his love affair with an engaged woman, Pidge, and misses her company. The four people, in their newly formed friendship, get in the Invisible Man's car, drive to a liquor store to pick up alcohol, and drive to a property Sancho says he owns. Daisy and Jordan make kissing noises in the backseat. Sancho pulls out a bag of drugs and each of them take a pill. They end up on the roof of a building when the four of them start tripping from the drugs. They have nonsense conversations until they decide to go inside and get some sleep. They wake up to a man screaming in the doorway of the conference room they slept in. The Invisible Man runs to his car.
