While exploring London, a mother and professor finds herself examining the movements and thoughts of her 11 year-old-son. It is the summer before 9/11 and also the last summer during which she believed her son to be truly innocent. Together, they visit many famed places, including Victoria Wolf's house and The Tower of London. On their final day, they go to Macbeth at the Globe theatre, however, the mother did not get tickets in advance so her and her son must sit in separate places. During the show, the mother looks across with fear to find that her son is no longer sitting in his seat down the row. She considers interrupting the play to look for him, but she happens to look back and sees that he has moved to the seat directly behind her. The mother feels he has done this on purpose — that he wanted her to be afraid and then find him in a effort to teach her that he is old enough to take care of himself now.
