In the present, a young man is excited because his wife is coming to join him in New York City after seven years living apart. He has been working two janitorial jobs and living in an apartment with two other men to save money to support her and him. However, he has also had numerous flings. She, on her end, has also had a long affair with a male neighbor. When she arrives in New York City, she is afraid of getting lost and spends most of her time listening to local radio.
