Working at an art gallery, a grieving man is plagued by his constant thoughts of his roommate who passed away from AIDS. He is briefly distracted when a local “banana” enters the art museum—a homeless man who asks not for change for the homeless, but “home for the changeless.” He wears a bowling shirt with the name “Sal.” Changeless Sal asks a question and he succinctly replies. He leaves the worker alone. He wishes he could have an answer as concise and satisfying as Changeless Sal received. In solitude, he is thinking of Nick again. He loved Nick deeply and would often feel jealous of Nick’s many lovers. Nick loved many, and was widely known in the city. He becomes very sick and while he is cared for, he dies. His roommate is left to continue without him, enduring but always thinking about Nick.
