Christina Wood is a fiction writer with short stories appearing in The Paris Review, Granta, McSweeney’s, Virginia Quarterly Review, The Sewanee Review, Mississippi Review, Puerto del Sol, and elsewhere. Her story “The Astronaut” won the 2018 Shirley Jackson Award for short fiction and received a “Distinguished Stories” mention in the 2019 Best American Short Stories anthology. She has held residencies at Spruceton Inn Artist Residency and The Hambidge Center.

In the past, she was the Assistant Editor of feminist press Dorothy, a publishing project, and a Visiting Assistant Professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Originally from Southern California, she has lived in St. Louis and now lives in Athens, Georgia, where she is a PhD student in English and Creative Writing at the University of Georgia. She is the founder and editor of echoverse, an anthology of writing about place, the environment, and climate change.

Some work is published under her previous name, Christina Wood Martinez.
