Tim and Lissy are on a beach vacation in a cottage. They plan to get married soon, and they discuss what Tim’s family of politicians will think.
One morning, Tim wakes up to find Lissy missing. He reports her disappearance to the police, who advise that she is likely dead. Tim has seen a ship on the water that seems to disappear, and he decides to swim to it, desperate to find Lissy.
He finds a king of Faeries, Daniel, on the ship, who has stolen away his bride-to-be. Tim is offered one hundred years of servitude to win Lissy back. He is also promised that the world will revert back to its original state and only he will remember the years of servitude. Daniel ends up giving Tim a deal of twenty years of servitude. When Tim finally completes the grueling years of captivity, he returns to the cabin, but Lissy believes that Tim is his father because of how much he has aged.
