After an intense labor, teenage Monica has given birth to a cube, who she names Di. Children like Di are not uncommon as some inexplicable event has turned babies into shapes. Although this seems to be a common phenomenon, Monica's parents and many others in the world have an intense reaction to the children who are shapes and either lock them up in facilities or discard them like waste. Seeing this, Monica doubles down on her protection of Di and cares for her until her old age where finally Monica and Di connect in a special moment in the desert.
