On her way to visit her girlfriend in Indiana, a woman stops at a rest stop. She puts her glasses on the sink while she uses the bathroom, and, when she is done, quickly realizes that they are gone. Desperate, she asks other people at the rest stop if they have seen her glasses, but nobody has. A few people offer to help her, but find that there is nothing they can do. The woman panics, as her girlfriend had warned her not to be late under any circumstance. She is terrified of what her girlfriend might do to her if she shows up late, and is too afraid to call her girlfriend and tell her what has happened.
The woman sits on a bench outside the rest stop, and is soon approached by a kind man who offers to help her. She explains her situation to him, and he suggests that she walk the rest of the way to Indiana. The man suggests that if she walks, it will show the woman's girlfriend how much she loves her, and that therefore the girlfriend may be less angry.
The man guides her onto the freeway and they begin to walk. The woman thinks about how bad her eyesight is, and how she is extremely vulnerable without her glasses. She thinks back to when her vision first started to deteriorate, and about her abusive relationship with her girlfriend. The man tells her a story about a girl who is in love with a monster. They continue to walk as the sun sets.
