Papa Schimmelhorn is a kooky scientist, instrumental in winning the war against Bobovia. Working for the US military, he introduces a wind instrument that resembles a bassoon. Upon demonstration, however, this is not a regular bassoon. When played, the music commands a countless number of little creatures to be summoned and, with another turn, banished. These little creatures, known as Gnurrs, have razor sharp teeth and eat all fibers, cloth, plastics, and other materials. He summons the Gnurrs onto the army of Bobovia and promptly ends the war, with everyone in Bobovia left without pants as well as artillery. Unfortunately, the Gnurrs attack Los Angeles and the only thing that can stop them is horses, their greatest fear. Papa Schimmelhorn is dragged away from America, not because of that fiasco in Los Angeles, but because his mother found him. He leaves, but promises that this is not the end, because he is a genius.
