Plot Summary
Jules is a high school senior who works at a frozen yogurt shop in Tallahassee, Florida. Over the summer, she gets close to her coworker Erika, but their relationship doesn't get very far. When the summer ends and Erika goes back to FSU, Jules feels left behind. She confides in her grandmother, Jan, who has had an eccentric love life herself. Jan gives her granddaughter some tips to win back Erika. As the weeks go by, Jan's advice starts to pay off, and soon Erika and Jules are friendly again. One night, just before the shop closes, Jules meets Erika in the storage closet and they find out that they both still have feelings for each other. When their shifts end, they hook up at Erika's house. A few days later, Erika breaks things off with Jules. In addition, she gets hired as an intern at a marketing firm, so she leaves the frozen yogurt shop. One Monday afternoon, while Jules is at work, Erika returns to hand in her uniform and say goodbye. With her is Kat, who Jules thought was Erika's ex-girlfriend. Jules discovers that Erika and Kat had never broken up, just that Kat had gone back home for the summer, and that she herself had only been a summer fling. On Halloween, Jules sits with her grandmother as they watch movies and talk about love when another coworker invites Jules to a party at Erika's house. Knowing that a relationship with Erika is impossible, Jules nevertheless decides to go, content to merely be in the same room as her.
