Plot Summary
At a court-mandated doctor's visit, a woman reports her emotions, such as whether she's felt violent, energized, and stable. A virus wreaked havoc globally, causing four variations of illness in humans: the first group only suffered a cold and the second group's gastric system dissolved; as for type three and type four, they would become bloodsuckers and brain-eaters, respectively. The woman has endured her symptoms for long enough with the help of supplements, which include dry pills filled with cow brains to suppress her appetite for the human equivalent. The pills suppress her appetite, but they do not satisfy it, and without the nutrients of human brains, soon, her body will deteriorate, eventually making holes in her brain. So, she asks her doctor for an increase in her dosage, but that avenue appears to be a dead-end, so she moves on to other means. The woman contacts Betty, a bloodsucker, to meet up at a hotel that night and make an exchange. Betty lets the brain eater lick her brain by cutting open her scalp and in return, Betty can drink the woman's blood. The pair begin with their meal, taking only enough for a taste, so as to keep their partner and their relationship alive. In the process of eating her brain, the brain eater is able to experience her memories and emotions. The brain eater rises to clean off in the bathroom, but when she enters, she finds herself reliving a memory with her doctor that she can't recognize. Then, the brain eater finds herself attacking a man, lusting after the brain she can smell through his skull. Bursting his eye with her tongue, the woman eats him, and begins growing stronger and more steadfast in her determination to survive, regardless of the cost to others.
