Felicity is a young Chinese-American woman who works as an accountant. All her life, Felicity has felt an affinity with the tiger, perhaps because she was born in the Year of the Tiger. In the human world, she feels completely isolated. She lives with her parents, but she resents them for how they pity her. At work, she can’t be bothered to respond to an IT guy, Robert’s, advances. She lacks friends and feels out of sorts at family gatherings, where all of her relatives flock over to her pregnant sister. The only friend she has is Andy, whom she told back when they were in school about her connection with the tiger. Andy is understanding. Felicity gets laid off from work. Along with her general lack of friends and separation from her family, she feels more lost than ever. She decides that it’s time. She steps out of her house, kneels, and becomes a tiger. She is greeted by a group of cats. She joins them without looking back on what she’s left behind.
