Plot Summary
A nightguard who patrols a Japanese high school in the 1960s feels young and indestructible. Their only job requirement is to take a lap around the school at 9 pm and 3 am, so for the rest of their shift, they busy themselves with playing basketball, reading, and listening to music in the school's various rooms. One night, the guard feels a bit more on edge than normal, but they assume it must be because of the creepy way that the pool gate keeps banging sporadically. Their 9 pm round goes without disturbance, but when they arise at 3 am for their second round, something feels off. They begin their round, holding closely to their flashlight and wooden kendo sword. In the dark of the night, they startle themselves when they come across a new mirror that must've been placed there between their shifts. Relieved to know it is just themselves, the guard breathes easier. That is, until they notice that something about their reflection is off. Though it looks like them, it doesn't appear to be a reflection but rather an alternate version of themselves. Growing in panic, fearing that the reflection wants to possess them, they spring at the mirror, shattering it with their sword and running away. The next morning, their sword litters the hallway, as does the cigarette they were smoking, but the mirror is nowhere to be found.
