Plot Summary
In a city located atop a knot of multidimensions, cops are zombies and garbage collectors golems, and mythological figures wander the streets. A private detective is enjoying a cup of coffee when a golem barges into his office, clutching a garbage can full of pieces of a dismembered woman. The golem, Byron, explains he's in trouble - he discovered the girl's body, and now the cops are after him, believing him to be the city's infamous serial killer, the Macerator. To prove Byron's story, a horde of zombie cops arrive outside the building, determined to arrest him. The detective leads Byron through an interdimensional trapdoor. They escape to a horrific multidimensional oubliette where the city's Mayor, Pallas Athene, banished her competitor Arachne. The dimension is made of rats woven together, and Arachne's body has been twisted into a vile half-spider monstrosity. But her unique ability to weave dead people back together means she can help. The detective promises Arachne he'll owe her a favor, so she reconstructs the murdered girl, gorgeous courier Nancy. Unfortunately, Arachne decides to collect on her favor immediately - the detective must help her escape her oubliette so she can slay her old foe. Reluctantly, he agrees. Nancy tells Byron she doesn't remember what happened, only that it seemed like a giant killed her. Returning to their former dimension with Arachne in tow, the crew is greeted by a multiplying number of zombie cops and a special guest - the phenomenally tall Pallas Athene. Arachne attacks her, and after a bloody fight, emerges victorious. The detective announces he's solved the case. Pallas Athene is the Macerator, using her serial killer identity to maintain her mayoral office while satisfying her thirst for blood.
