Plot Summary
A man meets a girl at a bar who leads him into the bathroom for sex. They decide to go back to her home, where the man plans to rob her after slipping her a date rape drug. He asks the girl, who seems freshly eighteen, if anyone will be home. She explains that both her parents died when she was eight, and that the only one at the house will be herself and Nanny Grey. She explains that Nanny Grey is more of a governess than a nanny, and that she has always been with her family. They get to her house, and the man puts the girl he assumes to be nearly passed out in her bed, slipping out to explore the house and take what he can find. As he explores the hallway, he hears what sounds like a dog's nails in the hallway. Suddenly, Nanny Grey appears, offering to take him on a tour of the place. He is spooked and tries to decline, but suddenly the young girl is there. The two women discuss what to do with the man, as well as Nanny Grey's history with the family, and the man realizes that the governess cannot be human, as she is in every family portrait from every generation. The young girl comes off bratty, boasting of Nanny Grey's servitude. Nanny Grey warns the young girl of how everything must fall eventually, and how badly such a fall can hurt. The man realizes he will not make It out of the house alive.
